Aster novae-angliae 'Purple Dome'
New England Aster / Symphyotrichum novae-angliae 'Purple Dome'
‘Purple Dome’ was selected because of its compact size and abundant blossoms. In late August or early September the plant is covered with deep purple flowers that are a butterfly magnate. This is a great fall blooming plant for the border front or butterfly garden and it would also make a fine edger.

Monarchs east of the Rocky Mountains migrate to a mountainous area west of Mexico City. Butterflies gain energy from nectar plants like asters to fuel their long southward migration.

"Asters are a great source of nectar for migrating monarchs and other late season butterflies."
